SUSTAINABILITY

We are always researching and implementing actions to improve our sustainability. To support reforestation we will be donating to the woodland trust each year, the more bookings the more we can donate.

Rewilding

It is important for us to support the environment of our land. We will be planting native trees, shrubs and hedging. These hedgerows offer vital refuge for wildlife and hedgerow planting makes an immense contribution to climate change and biodiversity. We will be adding wild meadows and flowering plants to the ‘lawn’ style fields, attracting butterfly's, pollinators and bee’s and in the future we are planning on becoming beekeepers and having a hive.

Traffic

We recommend the use of public transport, walking and cycling where possible to reduce the impact of traffic on the local area in an effort to be more sustainable. There are excellent rail networks from Manchester Victoria, Rochdale, Burnley, York (1 change), Leeds, Halifax, and even London via Halifax. The T6/T8 can be accessed from Bus Station Stand A (0.2 mile, approx. 5-minute flat walk). The T6/T8 from Bus Station Stand A runs directly to the property hourly 08:00 to 20:00 7 days a week. The 592, 590 operate from Todmorden bus station and stop at the bottom of Shaw Wood Road, half hourly from 05:00 to 22:30. You can then walk up to Cross Farm 0.8 miles from the bus stop in approx 15 - 20 minutes. For those who love walking, you can walk down the beautiful canal from the train station to Cross Farm in 45 minutes (2.3miles)

Products

All soaps / shower products are sourced from local or UK producers that support sustainability.

Support Local / UK

We have tried our very best to use local and UK producers.

Cleaning

We don’t use harsh chemicals, choosing eco alternatives and buying from brands thats support sustainability.

We use hydrogen peroxide in the cleaning process of our hot tub, the levels used to clean are not damaging to plants or wildlife.

Linen and Towels

We use eco alternatives and choose brands that support sustainability to wash all linen. We do not tumble dry and air dry instead to reduce our energy consumptions.

Energy Consumptions

We chose an air source pump hot tub with a very low energy consumptions, we also chose a stubby tub so that we use less water to fill and less water to heat. Our future plan is that our hot tub and bell tent will run off solar panels.

Treatments & Physio

All products used are organic and bought from brands that support sustainability.

Plastic

We avoid everywhere possible the use of single use plastic.

Recycling

Please recycle up at the barn, we have bins for glass, tins, paper etc. Where possible please avoid bringing single use plastic to the Cross Farm.
